The Importance of Mental Health Awareness

Disturbances in Mental health is the issue worldwide which ultimately effects the physical health of living beings, it includes our emotional, psychological and social well-being. It shows how we think, act, feel, as we know physical health is component for living being’s health status, the mental health is as such important as physical health. Individuals with unfit mental health leads to anxiety, depression, blood pressure issues, hallucinations stress etc.

Mental health influence how we think and feel about our self and others, it may affect our capacity to learn, to communicate. Mental illness is condition involving changes in emotion, thinking and behavior. It is associated with distress or problems functioning in social, work or family activities. According to world health organization(WHO) the definition of mental health is “state of wellbeing in which individual realizes his/her own abilities can cope with normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully and is able to make his contribution to his/her community

SYMPTOMS OF MENTAL ILLNESS

Feeling sad or down, Confused thinking, Extreme mood changes, Withdrawal from friends and activities, Tiredness all time

CURRENT RESEARCH ON MENTAL HEALTH

According to a recent research by Edith Cowan university (ECU AUSTRLIA) in which hundreds of doctors, scholars took part, 1 IN 4PEOPLE EXPERIENCE MENTAL HEALTH ISSUE WHILE 1 IN 6 WORKERS ARE EXPERIENCING ANXIETY, DEPRESSION AND STRESS.

Causes of disturbances in mental health

Mental health disturbance can be for short period of time or can also be episodic, the current situation of covid19 has highly increased the mental health issues mainly because of no outdoor activities and gatherings etc.

Factors that affects mental health

i. Use of alcohol

ii. Injury to brain /trauma

iii. Stressful events

iv. Negative thoughts

v. Chemical imbalance in brain

vi. Environment

PREVENTION TO MENTAL ILLNESS

i. Gathering amongst relatives, friends and family

ii. Stopping use of alcohol and smoking

iii. Avoiding mental stresses and overthinking

iv. Inclusion of healthy diet options

v. Including physical activities, outdoor games and exercise

vi. Making sound sleep a daily routine

vii. Taking immediate medical help in case of any signs of depression or other related disorders
